4 Reasons to Holiday in the UK Instead of Going Abroad

When you first start thinking about taking a trip, your mind probably conjures up images of exotic locations, long sandy beaches, and duty-free shopping. However, you should really think about staying in the UK instead. It’s the sort of thing people only used to do when they couldn’t afford to head elsewhere, but the truth is there’s plenty of benefits that come with sticking within our own borders.

Here are just four reasons to book a holiday in the UK instead of abroad.

  1. Less Expensive

Okay, so cutting down on costs isn’t the only factor in favour of a UK holiday, but it’s certainly one of the most important. For one thing, you can usually drive yourself or take a train instead of having to buy a pricy plane ticket. It’s also easier to stay with friends for a night or two when you travel within the UK. If you’d rather book a hotel or serviced apartment, you’ll probably be able to get away with fewer nights since you won’t have to deal with longer travel times.

  1. Less Hassle

Even if you’re flush with cash, it still makes sense to book within the UK. As much fun as it can be jetting off to fresh new lands, there’s also plenty of hassle involved. Whether it’s having to jam everything into a little suitcase to meet your luggage allowance or getting your money converted into the local currency, going abroad often feels like more work than it’s worth.

  1. No Language Barriers

Unless you’re fluent in the local lingo, having to deal with language barriers can be a real pain, especially if English isn’t widely spoken in your chosen country. It’s much nicer to relax and know that everyone you meet will be speaking your language.

  1. The Things You Never See

There are so many things in the UK that only ever seem to be seen by foreigners. It’s such a cliché that people never see the sights in their own country, so why not start breaking that trend? You live here, so why not see the best the UK has to offer?
